Family Resource Center Programs

The City of Aliso Viejo contracts with the Boys & Girls Club of Capistrano Valley to provide after-school Recreational and Homework Club programs at Iglesia Park.  The City also collaborates with several organizations to supplement the educational programs in addition to operating a Family Resource Center (FRC) to help families and parents raise healthy, happy children.  FRC programs are held at Iglesia Park and throughout the community.

After-School Education ProgramsEducational programs are provided for children in grades 1-6 that focuses on safety, health and literacy. Programs include the Aliso Viejo Library’s story time, helmet safety by Police Services; environmental awareness; multi-cultural awareness; and recycling awareness by CR&R. Collaborative partners include Mission Hospital, Aliso Viejo Police Services’ Crime Prevention Unit, Orange County Library – AV Branch and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA).

Family Resource Center Outreach Program Programs offered throughout the community that include Parenting Classes and Aliso Viejo Community Association programs and special events.  Collaborative partners include Champions for Change, Aliso Viejo Police Services, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, Vet Care Pet Clinic and Vaccination Services, Premier Aquatic Services and Soka University.

Homework Club An after-school program to assist kids in grades 1-6 and teens in grades 7-12 with their homework. The hour-long program is at 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A light snack is provided.

Referral Program Refer families to various programs including Social; Mental Health/Counseling; Child Abuse; Disability Services; Domestic Violence; Education; Employment; Food Banks; Foreclosure Prevention; First-Time Home Buyer Programs; Financial Literacy Programs; Financial Assistance; Housing; Identity Theft: Deter, Detect and Defend; ESL Classes; Senior Services; and Legal Services.

Special Events Pet & Vet Clinic; Snow Fest; Eat Healthy – Be Active Nutrition Classes; Area Health Education Center of Orange County; Kids’ Day; Health Safety and Resource Fair; Movie in the Park; Community Workshops; Founder’s Day Fair; Mammogram Screening; Flu Shot Clinic; Quarterly Family Fun Events; and seasonal celebrations for kids.

Teen Program Teen program is provided by the Boys & Girls Club and includes Education and Career Development; Arts, Health and Life Skills; Sports and Recreation; and Character and Leadership.
