If you want to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day, you’re in luck. Cupid is calling and the Orange County Clerk-Recorder’s office is answering with special hours on Valentine’s Day – Sunday, February 14.
The Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana (211 W. Santa Ana Blvd.) will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day to perform marriage ceremonies.
To get hitched on Valentine’s Day, couples must obtain a marriage license, prepay for their ceremony and make an appointment for the special Sunday service before 3 p.m. on February 11. Folks can do all of this by visiting any Clerk-Recorder office including the South County branch in Laguna Hills at 24031 El Toro Road.
Valentine’s Day is the most popular day for marriage ceremonies, according the Clerk-Recorder’s office. Last year, 223 marriage licenses were issued and 187 marriage ceremonies were performed. The department’s all-time record was in 2014 when it issued 310 marriage licenses and performed 266 ceremonies.
Orange County also has one of the lowest costs for a marriage license and ceremony in the state. Couples can obtain a public marriage license for $61 or confidential marriage license for $66. The civil marriage ceremony costs an extra $28.
