The course takes place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. December 5-6 at the City’s facility located at 29 Santa Barbara Drive.
The course is primarily for high school and college students who want to work as a lifeguard or first responder. The American Red Cross lifeguard course gives participants the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.
“Most participants will work during the summer but getting the certification now ensures they are ready to go,” said Premier’s owner Dan Berzansky. “The Aquatic Center is always hiring but people aspiring to be lifeguards will need this certification even to interview for a position.”
People interested in taking the course can register at http://swimoc.com/health-and-safety-services/lifeguarding/ by clicking on the December calendar. Cost is $170.
