Aliso Viejo’s new School Resource Officer (SRO) Deputy Alexzandra Flores began working this week with students, staff and administrators at Aliso Niguel High School.
Deputy Flores is a 15-year Sheriff’s veteran who comes to the City of Aliso Viejo with a wealth of law enforcement experience. She has worked in the county jails and spent the last 3.5 years with San Clemente Police Services as a patrol deputy and training officer.
School resource officers help students see beyond the handcuffs and blue lights they associate with police officers. The deputies serve as liaisons between Police Services and the schools in which they serve, but the responsibility doesn’t stop there. SROs also educate and advise in their positions.
“We are fortunate to have Deputy Flores as our school resource officer,” said Sgt. Ray Ulmer. “She has a ton of experience and dedication and will be an outstanding member of our team.”
