Donate baby items to benefit Aliso Viejo’s adopted Marines

The Aliso Viejo Marine Adoption Committee is teaming up with Alicante Apartment Homes to collect baby items for a special baby shower to benefit members of the 1st Maintenance Battalion.

Beginning December 12, you can drop off diapers, onesies, blankets, shampoo, lotion, wipes, new or gently used clothing, powder, towels, washcloths, diaper rash cream, bibs, socks and hats to the Alicante leasing office at 27662 Aliso Creek Road. The office is open Sunday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On January 14, Alicante will also host a baby shower “donation” party for residents, businesses and organizations who stop by the clubhouse with a new baby item between 1-3 p.m.  The event will include light appetizers and host games for all guests.  The donated baby items will be then delivered to Camp Pendleton for the expectant Marine families to enjoy.

The Aliso Viejo City Council in February adopted the 1st Maintenance Battalion, which is a decorated and integral component of our nation’s military readiness. Dating back to 1947, the battalion participated in the Korean and Vietnam wars as well as operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Restore Hope and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Since the battalion’s adoption, the citizens’ adoption committee has been working to provide year-round support to members of the battalion and their families. For information about the committee, contact Michele Williams Harrington at 949-389-0004 or
