The filing period to run for Aliso Viejo City Council has been extended to Wednesday, August 15. Two City Council seats are open in the General Municipal Election, which takes place Tuesday, November 6. Council Member Phil Tsunoda, who has served the citizens of Aliso Viejo since 2007, will not seek re-election; therefore, the filing deadline has been extended to 5:30 p.m. August 15 for non-incumbents only.
To qualify, a candidate must live in Aliso Viejo and be registered to vote. No fee is required to run for City Council; however, candidates can submit a “Candidate’s Statement” for the voter information pamphlet with a $750 deposit. Additional printing costs may apply.
