City collecting tattered American flags for retirement ceremony June 14

If you have a tattered American flag, you can drop it off at City Hall for a special flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day.

Led by Boy Scout Troop 700, the flag retirement ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14 at Fire Station 57.

The public ceremony will include proper homage and disposition of the flags by the troop’s color guard along with the singing of the National Anthem, patriotic bugle call and ceremonial prayer with Corpus Christi Catholic Church. The event takes place in the fire station’s back lot at 57 Journey.

Flags can be dropped off to City Hall during business hours through June 5.
