Aliso Viejo working to improve Aliso Creek Watershed

Our City has been working with Laguna Canyon Foundation for the past several years to remove dense forests of invasive plant species called Arundo from a 3-mile stretch here in the Aliso Creek Watershed.

Removing Arundo has many benefits to native plant and wildlife populations – including increased habitat for federally listed species; reducing the risk of wildfire and flooding; and improving the overall quality of wildlife habitat in this riparian corridor.

As part of this & other Aliso Creek Restoration efforts, thousands of native trees and shrubs are being planted to help hasten the return of healthy ecosystem to Aliso Creek.
