New Aliso Viejo eatery based on owner’s longtime dream

Pita Pita Mediterranean Grill recently opened its doors in Aliso Viejo Town Center, fulfilling a dream of owner Haitham Hammad.

“We have been working to open a restaurant in Aliso Viejo for the past five years,” Hammad said during the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.  “I am happy to be able to live and work in Aliso Viejo.”

The location, which used to house Fat Burger, follows Hammad’s first eatery on Lake Forest Drive in Laguna Hills that opened in 2010.

His venture into the restaurant business came after years of working in the corporate world.  Hammad came to the United States more than 15 years ago and dreamed of opening a restaurant based on recipes from his native Jordan.

At Pita Pita, patrons can savor freshly made pitas filled with ingredients like chicken, steak, falafel, lamb, gyro or sojouk (spicy Turkish sausage) and topped  with veggies and a tasty garlic sauce. The menu also includes bowls, salads, kabobs and flatbreads.

The eatery is located at 26741 Aliso Creek Rd Ste A. For more information, call 949-916-9611 or visit
