|Aliso Viejo Exchange linking volunteers and organizations
Volunteers are sought to give their time and blood during the American Red Cross blood drive on March 13.
The blood drive, which takes place from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Aliso Viejo Town Center, is the latest volunteer opportunity posted on the Aliso Viejo Exchange website, which launched in January. The City's website at www.alisoviejoexchange.com is a one-stop-shop program that easily provides for volunteers and organizations to connect with one another for community service opportunities. The program serves as an easy-to-use online clearinghouse for individuals and groups looking for community and public service opportunities. Like the Red Cross blood drive, Aliso Viejo Exchange also allows organizations throughout the City to promote ways to give back to the community.
Right now there are 675 volunteer opportunities such as the Aliso Viejo Community Association's fun-filled Spring Celebration on March 23; Soka University's Festival May 4; or the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley's May Gala on May 17. The opportunities are plenty.
"We have benefited from the Aliso Viejo Exchange in gaining new volunteers for our tutoring program and our fundraising activities," said James Littlejohn, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley. "Students and adults have come to us for volunteer opportunities ... the Aliso Viejo Exchange has been a good resource for the Boys & Girls Club."
