Dave began living in Orange County at the age of 6. His dad, a Navy man, was stationed at the Los Alamitos Naval Yard and moved the family to Garden Grove before finally settling in Buena Park. When he was 21, Dave joined the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, beginning a 28.5-year career in law enforcement.
Dave started his career working in the jail. After two years, one month and 13 days, he transferred to patrol. He worked patrol for six years, primarily in north Orange County, before promoting to Investigator. In the six years as an Investigator, Dave worked Economic Crimes, Fugitive/Warrants, Sex Crimes and General Investigations before promoting to Sergeant. After a short 1.5-year stint in the jail as a supervisor, he transferred back to patrol. Toward the end of 2003, Dave found his way to south Orange County as a patrol supervisor landing in the City of Aliso Viejo. He worked in the City for the next six years and fell in love with the small-town atmosphere nestled in the heart of South County.
Dave moved to Aliso Viejo in 2005 and has been active in the community ever since. He volunteered to coach several teams in Aliso Viejo Little League; Aliso Viejo Girls Softball (10u League Champions); and NJB basketball. He gave his time and talents to help build homes with Habitat for Humanity in San Juan Capistrano and began a nonprofit organization to help orphanages around the world. The nonprofit now has a local chapter called “The Ladder,” whose mission is to help foster children aging out of the system transition to adulthood. His commitment to the community and desire to keep it safe is second to none.
Dave met Michele Williams, an Aliso Viejo resident since 1999, fell in love and married her creating a blended family of his, hers and theirs. Dave has an adult son currently serving in the United States Army (with one tour of duty in Afghanistan) and an adult daughter who works in real estate and aspires to be a make-up artist. Michele, CEO and broker of Star Real Estate South County here in Aliso, has a son named Tyson. Together, they adopted Tamu and Negasse from Ethiopia several years ago. All three attend Don Juan Avila Middle School.
In 2017, Dave will represent the City of Aliso Viejo on the LOCC-Orange County Division Selection Committee; Orange County Fire Authority Board; OCTA-GMA 1; The Great Park Advisory Council; Aliso Creek Watershed; and South Orange County Watershed Management Area.
