Donald Garcia was selected by his colleagues on December 7, 2011 to serve as Mayor. He also served as Mayor in 2009. Donald has served on the council since being appointed by the City Council on March 1, 2007.

Donald is a member in good standing with the California State Bar. He has past and/or current affiliations with several professional organizations, which include the Hispanic Bar Association, Orange County Trial Lawyers, the Orange County Bar Association and the Consumer Attorneys of California. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Donald held the position as Vice President of a leading arbitration and mediation company. He has been a practicing attorney for nearly 16 years.

Donald's community involvement and emphasis for keeping a pulse on Aliso Viejo's affairs has grown throughout his 18 years in town. In 2000, he was appointed architectural chairman of his neighborhood subdivision. In 2002, he was appointed to the City's Development Review Committee (DRC) and served for three years.

Donald represents the City on the League of California Cities - Orange County Division City Selection Committee and as an Alternate Board Member for the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA). Donald proudly served in the US Army 101st Airborne Division. He has been married for 18 years and has four children. During his free time, Donald and his lovely wife, Toni, are active in the community and enjoy spending time with their kids.
