Mike Munzing grew up in Orange, Calif. as the youngest of four children and the son of a pastor. He worked full-time to put himself through college and holds a BS Degree from California State University, Fullerton with a dual-major in Real Estate Finance and Industrial Marketing.
As a life-long resident of Orange County, Mike has spent more than 28 years building a successful and respected career, covering a broad spectrum of the real estate and mortgage industries. With the last 21 years focused on the residential mortgage side of the business, he quickly recognized the negative effects of government intervention in lending, which resulted in his refusal to participate in the subprime, stated income and Alt-A lending bonanza that swept the country throughout much of the last decade.
Mike serves the City of Aliso Viejo as an alternate member of the Aliso Creek Watershed and Southern California Association of Governments General Assembly. Mike was also appointed as a Board Member to the Orange County Council of Governments and as a Member, Regional Council, of Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG).
He was recently re-elected to his second term on the Orange County Republican Party’s Central Committee (OCGOP) in the newly expanded 73rd Assembly District, which covers a large portion of South Orange County. With a growing reputation as a fighter for limited government policies, Mike was appointed by Assemblywoman Diane Harkey as a delegate to the CA Republican Party where he was elected to the prestigious CAGOP “Platform Committee.”
Though Mike has become a familiar face in the local, state and national political arena, he has maintained his commitment to the local Aliso Viejo community, where he and his wife Erin are active at Coast Hills Community Church. Mike is a founding member of Aliso Viejo’s Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate member of Aliso Viejo Republican Women’s Federated, a 20+-year member of the OC Association of Realtors and a volunteer at Tustin’s OC Rescue Mission, Second Harvest Food Bank, as well as numerous other organizations. A strong believer in fitness, Mike enjoys hiking and mountain biking in Aliso Woods Park, working out at 24 Hour Fitness, and pitching for the Coast Hills’ softball team at Aliso Viejo’s Community Park.
